Back from Women's Redrock Music Festival

Hello Everyone,

We just got home from the Women's Redrock Music Festival last night. First of all Torrey is a beautiful town! We arrived late on Thursday night. The folks as the Red Sands Affordable Inn were very hospitable, and even recognized me from the Redrock website :). Friday we all woke up and had a very lovely continental breakfast of waffles and canned fruit together, except for Logan...he was still sleeping. At the table next to us was a very large family from france, they said they came all the way here just from the music festival. If fact, I hardly met any one who was actually from Utah. We didn't play till late on Friday so we had some time to check out the town. We went to one of the local trading posts, the Chuck Wagon General Store, an adorable little chocolate shop (tried cactus jellies...not bad). We also went to the Robers Roost where the festival was going to be, that was during the height of an intense lighting storm. We were all so scared. It was crazy. I've never been so close to lighting before in my life. It was so loud I could feel it in my chest. I thought for sure we would get struck. Later we got back to the festival, checked in back stage. Got to listen to Natalie Gelman while we were waiting. She was great. I was pretty nervous, this was the biggest show I've ever played, and we only had fifteen minutes to set up. It wasn't bad though. We got on stage, set up and we were off. It's so nice to play a show where you don't have to invite anyone, you don't have to provide your own sound equipment or engineering, you basically don't have to worry about a thing. The show went great! The audience was so chill and just having a good time. We finished the set, but we played it way faster than I thought and ended up having an extra twenty minutes so I just started playing random songs trying to fill the time. I started playing "blue eyes cryin' in the rain" and remembered that my sister Kiki knows it too...I invited her up on stage and it was a hit. The next day we checked out of our hotel and headed down to the festival for the second day. By the way, the Robbers Roost, the bookstore the concert was held at is just adorable. It has great books, art, and coffee. Our second set was ever better... I stayed up late creating a new, longer set list. and Kiki and I stayed up even later practicing a couple more songs. The band played great, and everyone was really in to it. Going to the Music Festival was only a small taste of what it would be like touring behing my music, but I'm sure now that I would love it. Thanks to everyone who came, thanks to the band, and thanks to the folks who were kind enough to invite me to play. It was the time of my life.
